Farewell my Comrades

Wow, the past few days were crazy for me and mates. We just had our poster presentation last Friday and now we had to rush through our final report over the weekend, amazingly i think it's my first time sleeping quite late (5am?) just to finish up as much stuff as I can. The thing is i have to compile the video clips for 4 non-English videos and that was really really painful! haha!

Although we would all want our projects to be done asap, it's really kinda sad to know that we're graduating soon! We'll all probably go our separate ways after 3 long years of friendship and great laughter. But not to worry, we still have a few more 'unofficial weeks' together and of course the infamous Dinner & Dance to look forward to which we initially had no interest in. Haha, it's been one hell of a ride :D

Well well... first of all, Happy Chinese New Year to everyone Chinese or non-Chinese. Nothing exciting about CNY though, it's just the same old gathering at Granny's place for dinner and that's about it. I've not visitations like any other Chinese kid around here. hahaha... so with that free time... i was thinking of coming out a proper Photography name for myself (at least something that will last?) I feel like adding the number 12 inside (for no specific reason except that 12 is my birth date? haha)

So you geniuses out there, any suggestions?

Oh my.... i realised i haven't updated since the New Year! 0.0 that's how busy i've been for the past few weeks and it's gonna get even busier with my final year project submission, poster presentation, oral presentation to the external examiners and even my last exam in Ngee Ann! Goshhh! Although i can't wait for the long chinese new year weekend but i still have to complete alot of my school assignments... Nevermind...... i just need to hang in there for 6 more weeks!

Anyway, it's good to be back shooting again.. haha! if you know where i took this, you'll realised most of my "desparate-to-update shots" were taken at the same location but with different ideas. Been wanting to try a self-jumpshot-portrait like these for quite some time, but too bad the surroundings are either filled with too much greeneries or construction so this was the only nice spot i found with the Singapore Sports School (Hint!) as a background!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It's been a great 2008 and i guess 2009 will be another bumpy ride for me. 2009 will be the year i can say goodbye to education for at least 2 years. It will also be the year where "boys become men" as they always say. For me that is. Fortunately or not, all fit Singaporean men will eventually have to serve the army for a minimum of 2 long years (2 1/2 for some a long time ago). Still i guess that's something we Singaporean men can talk about even if we don't know each other. Soon it will be my turn this year and i guess that's something i could look forward to? (Can't speak too soon) :D

MERRY BELATED CHRISTMAS and an ADVANCED HAPPY 2009!!

My so called 3 weeks term break didn't even feel like a holiday with the exception of the few Christmas celebrations i had of course. I just realised i had many stuff to do and i haven't exactly get them done yet.. :(

Sooo... When it gets too busy during the holidays, the only way to outsource is to get reliable help from mannequins who are jobless and knows nothing but to listen to instructions. Haha, just bought myself a nice "ceiling-light-covering" from IKEA. Who else would do a better job other than Woody himself? :D

Anywayyy... if you're interested i have video taken by the crazily cool D90 during my class' Christmas party. It's pretty funny and weird recording the whole thing in a fisheye perspective! Ha! Enjoy :D

Yay! I finally got the chance to play with the D90 and a fisheye for the whole day! I was pretty impressed with the video recording function, who knew 10 years ago that an SLR would be capable of recording videos! Hopefully later during my class party i'll try to make full use of the new camera. Will upload photos of it if they turn out nice! :D

Oh la la, Christmas is coming!

Finally after sooooooo long Christmas is almost 1 week away with many plans up my sleeves. Besides the usual boring school work, i'm looking forward to my class' last christmas party together, on top of that i'm also going to rent a D90 and a 10.5mm fisheye. Hopefully i could make full use of them especially with the video function built into the D90. Hehe can't wait! Let's see what i can produce from that combination! :D

Breakfast Crunch Crunch

Mom just bought us a new kind of cereals than my usual Koko Crunch/Fruit Loops/Milo Balls. So it's hard, rugged and there are even tiny pieces of chocolate in the mixture. From what i've gathered it's called a Muesli? Never heard of it before (LOL), that's how pathetic i am when it comes to breakfast. I'm only used to bacons, eggs, bread and "normal" cereals. Guess i can add this to my breakfast menu. Haha :D

Lost but Found

Not quite long ago, i just discovered some more missing photos of myself inside taken during my recent Aussie trip. I'm actually quite glad to find them cos there were actually pretty decent shots of me. Hahaha so i'm kind enough to share it with you guys :D

Btw, i've finally change my photoblog's layout once again! haha and i'm also supposed to be studying. Thought of changing the 'name' so i actually thought really hard about it. But then i realised Shermeee (my Flickr ID) has kinda established itself in the WWW with links to my photos and wouldn't it be nice to incorporate it into my new photoblog name? Nothing creative i would say... =.=

New 'Camera'!

Just a little update to keep this blog alive!

Thankfully school ended early today... so i decided to take a road trip down town to look up for this Camera looking notepad at Far East Plaza. What can i say.. i would do anything for something 'unique/photography', of course it must be cheap! I got it for $5? But i wouldn't say it's cheap or anything.. at least it's different! haha and it looks like a Leica.. seriously... Right now i'm thinking what i should do with it though...

Oh yeah... and i also decided to buy my long-awaited 'Organiser' from Page One.. a pretty small handy one to keep me well... 'organised' considering i have SOOO many things to do. I probably take a photo of it some other time.. right now i need energy for tomorrow's 'killer attachment'. Muahahaha :D

Seriously, i've been inactive for too long already... Everytime when i have the time to visit other blogs, i kinda got sick looking at the cheese fries... I had a crazy week worrying about almost everything related to school from video editing, leaflet designing, studying for quizzes (soon) etc etc.

So i've decided to really take some time off from my 'work' to come out with my specially made Christmas Bokeh* Brew. Besides, it's 1 month till Christmas! Why not have some Christmas spirit flowing in this blog. hehehe :D

Sometimes in our busy schedule we tend to miss the little wonders that God created, truly this shows how busy we are in life! Like for a 19 year old (myself), we have stacks of projects, assignments, quizzes and other life commitments to worry about! We don't even have time for ourselves to thing about small little details in life that may inject a big difference when we grow up. Relationship with friends is one key that many of us always miss out, indeed we really need to treasure those who were with you cheering you on when you're down or laughing with you when you're happy!

Okay, that was just random... hehe :) anyway... right now i'm like waiting for a video (part of final year project) to process before i can continue with my next video. It's taking toooooo long....

On a side note, i somehow had this thought that Instant Messenging kind of spoils the whole importance of keeping a good conversation. I realised that when i add friends on IM, we 'talk' less as compared to other means (emails?) If you need a friend, do email me man! I would love to start 'emailing' soon. wahaha :D

The Art of Precognition

Too bad this year there's no fancy costumes or crazy ass make ups, instead i decided to be a simple Precog who's made to dream about the future and nothing else. That's all i do.... Neat isn't it? All i need is a white canvas, a paint brush and some nice paint to get my work done. People would actually kill one another in order to see what will happen.

Okay, i think i'm getting out of hand cos Heroes is at it's 3rd season and i just can't wait for the next episode! Argh! hahah.... I wonder if precognition can forsee the upcoming episodes of all the shows i'm watching.. hmmm...

Yeah seriously when i started out photography, i didn't think i would last that long... thought i'll probably give up half-way like most hobbies that i've took up. LOL! But i'm pretty surprised i've gone serious about this hobby and how i've matured through the years (2 years?). Of course i couldn't have done it without the support of my photog friends especially those from Flickr who taught me good techniques and also many others who gave 'moral support'! haha!

New kid in the block

Okay so i kinda remembered that my dad used to have this old twin reflex lens oldie 120mm camera. Thought it would be one of those expensive brands like Mamiya or Hasselblad but it turned out to be some China-made 'Pearl River' brand? It still works though, so i'm wondering if i should really get an expired 120mm roll of film to try it out. Then again, money wise... it won't make any economical sense at all to do something foolish. Still... as an experimental photographer, i might (!) give it a try... (",)

Basically, we were all close to living in a world that's hanging on a thread, we nearly couldn't survive that crazy financial turmoil... all because of a few banks and mortgage companies in the US, the rest of the world followed their footsteps into a deep empty hole. Good thing the finance departments in the various nations had some reserves to keep the economy alive... Else how long can we hang on till we finally 'drop'?

Anyway, on a lighter note.... 1st week of attachment was OKAY... nothing much to comment except for the fact that many millilitres or litres (?) of infectious mucus were dripping down my nasal canal throughout the attachment! Can you imagine how i have to face the patients if they were to inquire about anything ? !

Rival Brand Photomarathon 2008

Whoa.... this year's Canon Photomarathon was quite a blast? hahaha didn't really move around as much as compared to last year's though. But it's really fun doing it with my photography mates from school. Especially when most of us are still virgins to the marathon. This shot was taken right after i've taken my final theme of the day. Was quite tired and nothing really inspired me during the whole marathon... LOL well i guess i'll have to work harder next year then !

Photomarathon!

Tomorrow's gonna be a pretty long day for 1000+ photographers in Singapore. Probably one of the craziest event of the year for photography hobbyist like myself and many others. In case you're wondering, tomorrow marks the day of the Canon Photomarathon 2008. That will also be my last chance to 'get' something from the Student Category before transferring to the Open Cat. when i graduate. Pretty stressed up! hahah, but then of course we're all there to have fun and hopefully to know more camera enthusiasts like my buddies below!

Till then, i'll update again when i'm back from the marathon tomorrow!

So i went to print out 30+ photos from my collection, half of it are mainly from the Australia trip. Since i had this bare/empty notice board (?) for quite some time already, i decided to pinned up some of the Aussie shots up there. Now it looked more occupied and at least it's worth hogging up the space on my orange wall..

Weekend to Relax

It's my last weekend to literally relax and enjoy while i still can before my new semester starts on Monday. Scary but at least there's finally something fruitful to do for the next few months before i officially graduate. I can't imagine that this coming semester will be my last one and soon enough i'll be off to the my intensive phase of my life (Serving the Army).

Now let me just calm myself...

When Uke came into the family

If you've noticed my new header on the top, you'll probably find out that i own a ukulele, a rather cheap one as well ($20?). Figured out it'll be easier (?) to learn to play as compared to a guitar. I was right indeed! Managed to "memorise" the chords for the infamous Somewhere Over the Rainbow medley and i've still got a couple more songs which i'm trying to "master". All thanks to Youtube , i don't have to literally spent alot of money on Ukulele Lessons in music schools (if there're any in Singapore).

Heads up people, sooner or later i MIGHT be able to play "Don't Look Back in Anger" by Oasis and "Country Road, Take Me Home" by John Denver. :D

Pulau Ubin

Considering that i've been living in Singapore for almost 19 years already and just last Saturday, that was my first time visiting Pulau Ubin, an off island North East of Mainland Singapore. Nice rural place without the buzzling cityscape we always see.. It's also nice to go there with my photography kakis and at the same time gotta know new people with same interests as me ! :D

Murder & Suicide

I realised nowadays more & more teenagers or any other ordinary people are getting their minds brainwashed by God knows what. Probably due to television violence or some crazy ass game that kills random people. Many of them had ventured out into killing sprees in schools and even shopping malls, hoping to die with honour or what nots. Even in Singapore, suicide cases among teenagers have risen. But sometimes we can't really blame them. It's really hard to live life to the fullest when you have exam stress, domestic problems or peer pressure by bad influences.

What a waste of God's creation.
